NOTE: This isn't indication as to whether Bully 2 is or isn't currently being worked on right now. Games get cancelled and rebooted all the time. Current consensus among Rockstar leakers is that the game IS in production and is Rockstar's next major game.

Foreword:

Ok so the Bully community is going nuts over this one. To sum it all up, notorious Rockstar leak guy Fika122 recently got in contact with a former Rockstar New England developer. Said developer worked at Rockstar up to mid 2009 on an unannounced project for the 360 and PS3 (Bully 2). The identity of this Rockstar employee has obviously been made private to ensure he's not affected by what we're about to go into but he was verified by trusted Bully community member and popular YouTuber SWEGTA who made a video on the whole thing which I'll link below. The employee's name does show up in the credits for the first Bully and said employee WAS employed by Rockstar New England according to SWEGTA searching up his name on LinkedIn, looking at his online portfolio and other stuff which is why I'll take his word for all this information being real and legit.

I'll sum up the information from the chat logs below but before we continue, what's interesting is that concept art and soundtrack samples supposedly for Bully 2 got leaked in 2017. I'll post them here so you can check them out.

(this one is interesting as it explicitly mentions Jimmy's dad and his new house which according to the new leaked info was meant to be a major driving force in this game's story giving the image above legitmacy).

Among this concept art leak was a character sheet of a mailman. Fika sent this to the employee who actually confirmed that it was official Bully 2 concept art who then stated that he thinks the rest might all be legit too.

Details:

Alright so supposedly the game was to be set during Jimmy's summer vacation at his new step-dad's house with a summer camp being the main setting and with a nearby town to explore. You had step siblings to deal with and the game expanded on things you could do such as a climbing system, more pranks and some other mechanics like being able to dive into a garbage can to hide from someone chasing you. Other things included being able to shimmy along walls, and more mini-games.

I think it's worth mentioning that some of the leaked soundtrack samples actually corroborated this summer camp/wilderness angle. Not to mention Abe living in the woods...

This is Fika122's chat log with the Rockstar New England employee who was working on Bully 2

There's a lot more to learn about this which is why I urge you to watch SWEGTA's video on this!!

For me, the biggest take away from this is that they had planned on keeping Jimmy as the protag again but also the whole summer camp setting. Not going to lie, I had never really pictured something like that but now that the idea is known, I kinda want it.

I think it's pretty straight forward - Bully 2 wasn't going to sell one zillion copies, like RDR or another GTA game.

What a shame smh.

I'm so uninterested in GTA and RDR. I'd love another shot at Bully, Table Tennis or Max Payne.

Damn. I hope its still in the works. I loved Bully. The steam version is in my yearly rotation. Thank you for this, pretty interesting.

It's gonna be a minute before we hear from rockstar but if their current comments on development from Straus are any indication then I'd imagine we will get smaller experiences before gta 6 since they're not incredibly inspired and their last game took like 7 years

The summer vacation angle seems really cool. Shame though, I think we're past the point of ever getting another game.

Sounds interesting. I've always figured that Bully 2 would be on a college campus dealing with frats. I'd be so down with a Camp Bully.

Bully is still maybe my favorite Rockstar game. Or at least my memory of it is, no idea if it holds up. Incredible soundtrack.

God I hope those voice stuff relating to a possible Bully 2 is true. Jimmy or a new protagonist I want it. Enjoyed the more light hearted angle.

Summer camp idea sounded rad. Hope it gets revisited at some point.

Rockstar's current one-game-every-five-years model is a bummer considering the number of IPs they own (not to mention the possibility of creating new ones).

Has rockstar ever had a repeat protagonist from their major IP? GTA, manhunt, Red dead always has a fresh face with some mention of a previous protag.
Max Payne (although to be fair, Rockstar only developed the third game).

Seems a bit irresponsible for Fika to post the chat log. There's probably enough information in there to single out the leaker, if Rockstar wanted to go after them.

After how good red dead 2 was, my interest for rockstar's old writing style pretty much died. While this is interesting to read, im not gonna lose sleep over a cancelled bully game.

I just can't see Rockstar making Bully 2 when GTA and RDR are so much higher in public perception.

Is the first one still legit these days? Is it available in some form in current consoles?

I absolutely adore Bully. I really hope we get Bully 2 one day

At this point though, considering how long it's been since the first Bully, I'd prefer a return to boarding school as the main setting as opposed to summer camp. Although, honestly, I could go for both

Yeah, even after reading the OP, I don't see Bully 2 coming. I fell like at this point, anything R* makes has to be similar in scope to GTAV and RDR2. I just don't see them putting that amount of time and resources into a Bully sequel. That would push GTAVI out another 5 or so years.

Early last gen was really rough for Rockstar. Two projects cancelled in the span of like 2-3 years. Not to mention RDR's horrid development with insane crunch and horrible work conditions.
True. I was more so thinking about them in the PS2 era. So many games that were amazing in a short period of time. Many of them were also really unique, simple and and varied.

Last Gen was the begining of the end after they started trying make their games cinematic experiences.

Yeeeeeeeep. Agreed wholeheartedly. The increase in development costs seems to have been a double-edged sword for Rockstar. They've been able to craft insanely detailed worlds at the cost of them pumping out cool and unique games regularly and the wellness of their employees.

It's painful to read the chat log and the person asking questions isn't even attempting to play along, but I guess it's on the developer to shut up when the dude doesn't seem savvy at all.
